April Ristau
Leadership Coach & OD Specialist
April is a Leadership Coach and OD Specialist for ELP. April earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She is a trained ontological coach who graduated from one of the world’s premier coaching institutions, the Newfield Network. ELP is proud to boast that April earned her Associate Certified Coach designation (ACC) from the flagship International Coaching Federation (ICF).
April is not new to coaching, leadership, or organizational development. Armed with over 30 years of experience, she’s earned the moniker of “people gardener” for growing leaders at all levels. April, herself, enjoyed fast growth in the financial services industry where over 20 years she rose to the position of Senior Vice President & Area Manager for Crestar/SunTrust bank—one of the largest financial institutions in North America. In addition, she’s led large teams at companies such as CACI, a government contracting firm that supports a variety of DoD organizations. Her HR consulting experience extends to Dominion Energy, local city and state governments, wineries, nonprofits, and the criminal justice system.
A patient teacher at heart, April was an instructor with Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) where she had the unique experience of teaching and coaching a group of Tibetan Entrepreneurs along with a group of ex-offenders that were re-entering the workplace. Known to pay it forward, these experiences have left a mark on April that, to this day, makes her a more patient and thoughtful coach. When she’s not helping others make the most of second chances, you can find April coaching runners in preparation for an upcoming race or at a winery or brewery celebrating the crossing of a finish line. Like other ELP leaders, April loves animals and has a sweet spot for both cats and dogs.
