Patrick Mifsud
Leadership Coach & OD Specialist
Patrick is a Leadership Coach and OD Specialist for ELP. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and earned an MBA from the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at WVU. Perhaps most impressive, Patrick was selected for residency at the U.S. Army War College, where he earned a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies.
Sadly, for many, leadership is a theoretical and academic exercise. Not so at ELP. Patrick reflects our ethos and is living proof of leadership in action. Patrick is a recently retired U.S. Army Colonel who was handpicked to serve in multiple high-threat operational, leadership, and staff assignments across Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His body of work for the U.S. Army speaks volumes; he was twice selected as the Secretary of Defense’s personal military representative to the militaries of Ethiopia and Somalia. Relatedly, the highest echelons of the U.S. Army chose Patrick to serve as the Senior Military Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. One of Patrick’s crowning achievements was the design and execution of the first U.S. Africa Command Military Coordination Cell (MCC), which coordinated operations for the entire African continent, including fourteen partner countries.
Joining ELP’s Jay Morwick, Patrick is the second ELPer to earn the storied Ranger Tab early in his career. A unique blend of infantry, military intelligence, foreign service, and diplomatic studies, Patrick gives new meaning to multidisciplinary frameworks used to solve complex problems. Leveraging these varied lenses, we chose Patrick to join our team because of his passion for mentoring and developing others. In fact, as the Army Senior Service Advisor within the Defense Intelligence Agency, he coached, mentored, and monitored the careers of over 450 U.S. Army Intelligence and Foreign Area Officers who were working operations in more than 140 overseas locations. Even more, as an instructor at the Joint Military Attaché School (JMAS), Patrick trained and mentored joint military members in preparation for their service in U.S. embassies.
Given these international experiences, he highly values travel. Adding to his mystique, Patrick enjoys scuba diving. Other interests include boating, supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers, reading fiction and nonfiction, and hiking—always abiding by the maxim: the steeper, the better!
