Evan OffsteinEvan Offstein is one of the original founders and partners of Excelerated Leadership Partners (ELP). Evan is a graduate of West Point and later earned his doctorate in business from Virginia Tech. Evan also is a full professor of business management at the AACSB accredited business school at Frostburg State University, which is the largest Maryland university west of Baltimore. Given his academic training coupled with his service as a Military Intelligence Officer, Evan’s loyal and vocal supporters contend that there’s few better at bridging the divide between theory and practice.

Evan’s career does, indeed, span the academic and practitioner divides. His leadership chops were honed at such Fortune 500 firms such as Corning and Target. Evan would later go on to become the Assistant Commandant of Cadets at the Virginia Military Institute at a unique time in their history—that of integrating women into the Corps of Cadets. From a scholarly standpoint, Evan’s research can best be described as both prolific and impactful. His research on organizations and leadership won recognition and awards at the top international conferences to include the Academy of Management Conference and the Strategic Management Society Conference. Evan’s research can be found in esteemed journals such as the Academy of Management Learning and Education, Ethics & Behavior, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Human Resource Management Review, and Group and Organization Management (2008 Strategy Paper of the Year). Evan is also the author of three books which include Stand Your Ground: Building Honorable Leaders the West Point Way. The book, which is published by Praeger, has been endorsed by such notable leaders as former U.S. Attorney General and Governor of Pennsylvania, Dick Thornburgh, and former Virginia Tech Head Coach, Frank Beamer. His third book, Gridiron Leadership with Foreword by Art Rooney of the Pittsburgh Steelers (Praeger, 2009) boasts endorsements from former Maryland Chancellor Kirwan, recent Army Chief of Staff, GENERAL Odierno, and former Sergeant Major of the Army, Ken Preston. People want to hear what Evan has to say as he’s spoken at venues across North America. A small sampling of his speaking engagements and consulting activity include: the United States Army, the U.S. Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service, Northwestern Mutual Life, Raymond James Financial, Securian’s Tax and Financial Group, the Eisenhower Institute, Maryland Transportation Authority, Solutia Corporation, Pennsylvania Warden’s Association, and the Western Maryland Health System. For these efforts, Evan was named the Top Professional Under 40 in Western Maryland in 2011.

Over the last decade, Evan leveraged his talents as part of the ELP team to great impact. Drawing on some cutting-edge research, Evan helped a heavy manufacturing enterprise (a Fortune 500 firm) to realize a surge in safety and profitability metrics that, until then, were but a pipe dream. Evan also orchestrated colossal organizational interventions for some of our nation’s largest power stations and utilities, which are safer and more efficient as a result. Reflecting a degree of separation, Evan is known to bring in his ethics and honor training to ELP clients since no culture can exist without a strong and unrelenting set of core values.

When not signing books, Evan, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, likes to follow his Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. Evan’s two other passions are wine and cross-fit.
