Jack Risendal

Leadership Coach

Jack is an Executive/Leadership Coach and OD Specialist for ELP. Jack graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Finance and followed that up with an MBA from George Washington University. He is also certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt and was awarded a certificate in Employee Relations and Law from the prestigious Institute for Applied Management and Law.

At ELP, we hire for experience and judgment, and Jack possesses both. Armed with 36 years of experience in the utility industry, Jack served in a variety of roles that included Director of HR and Director of Supply Chain. Jack boasts extensive experience working on the business side of HR, providing strategic and business advice for issues involving both union and nonunion employees. As Director of HR, he developed master plans for the treatment of employees impacted by the shuttering and or sale of generation plants in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Illinois, Indiana, and Virginia. He also led a substantial diversity initiative on respect in the workplace. Although retired from Dominion Energy, many senior leaders still seek Jack out for his commonsensical and astute mentorship and guidance.

In our experience, few can easily make the transition from the corporate arena to consulting and executive/leadership coaching. Jack, to his credit, made it look like a cake walk. Jack instantly jumped into enterprise scale initiatives both with DTE Energy and ConEdison. Quick to pick up ELP’s proprietary Strategic Performance Management (SPM) Process, Jack, in such a short time, is a master at building ELP simplified, strategic One Page Plans. Moreover, front line supervisors to Site Vice Presidents love Jack because he’s, quite literally, seen it all as a Director of HR at one of our nation’s largest utilities. There’s nothing Jack hasn’t seen, and, for that reason, he offers nuanced and sophistication in all of his coaching engagements. At ELP, we were lucky to land someone with Jack’s repertoire and critical thinking skills; his engagement with ELP clients, by all accounts, is a home run every time.

Despite a strong work ethic, Jack knows what fun is. He’s a proud grandparent but can still tear it up on the links. He also likes to fish, travel, and is particularly fond of supporting his alma mater—VA TECH Hokie football.
